The Risks of Playing The Online Casino
There are numerous dangerous and risk associated with playing casinos and generally gambling online. I am not talking about security risks as in people stealing your credit card details or access credentials. I am talking about the gambling itself. Whilst most casinos and online bookmakers do build in a certain amount of security for the users, specifically daily transfer limits, table limits and maximum bets - there is still a lot of room for the player to be careless and risk losing a lot of money.
I think the problem when playing online is that it doesn’t seem like real money. If you have £100 in your online account to play with or £1000 or £10,000 - it just seems like a figure, an insignificant digit which I believe makes you a little bit more careless with your money. If you were in a real casino, you would think twice about placing £1000 in cash down or even £1000 in physical chips, but online, it’s just the click of a button and the digit moved in your balance. It doesn’t seem real - until you lose and your bank statement tells you differently.
This I think is the biggest risk associated with gambling online. I do not fear for the experienced players who know the value of money and bet responsibly, but I do fear for people with large credit cards who can continue to plough £1000 after £1000 into their accounts and not give it a second thought until their credit card bill comes through the post.
Of course, this isn’t the fault of the Casino themselves. If people want to gambling they should have the right to gamble. I am just saying that by doing so online, a certain element of protection is removed and you do not take it as seriously as playing with real cash.
